St. Anthony of Padua School offers extracurricular activities for students in preschool through eighth grade. The activities may be all year long, a limited number of weeks, seasonal, etc.

Students in grades 3-8 may participate in fall and spring track through NVJCYO (Northern Virginia Junior Catholic Youth Organization). Practices begin in early September at school and on the weekends and end with a diocesan track meet in early October. Weekly practices at school are on Thursday early dismissal days from 2:30-3:45 pm. The information on practices as well as payment form for track and t-shirt fee.

Students in grades 3-8 may participate in basketball through NVJCYO (Northern Virginia Junior Catholic Youth Organization). Practices begin in mid-October at school. Games begin on the weekends in December. The information on practices as well as registration can be downloaded below. The registration fee must be paid on the school website under ADMISSIONS>ONLINE PAYMENTS or by check.

Students in grades 3-8 may participate in cheerleading. Practices begin weekly in September and end in February or March with a diocesan cheerleading exhibition. There is a mandatory parent meeting on Tuesday, September 10, at 6:45 pm in the school cafeteria. If parents are unable to attend or would still like their child to participate, the cheering coach, Mrs. Richards.

Students in grades 3-8 can participate in choir. Weekly practice is on Tuesdays after school. The choir performs at our weekly School Masses, Christmas pageant, and Night of the Arts in the spring. They may perform at other events as needed. A permission form must be completed and returned to the music teacher Ms. Park.

Band classes are offered to students in grades 4-8 through an outside company called Garwood Whaley, the designated diocesan band company for the elementary schools. Band classes are on Thursdays and the time rotates every week to avoid students missing the same class. For the advanced band, there is practice every Thursday from 2:25-3:25. Students participate in school events a couple of times a year as well as the diocesan band festival in the spring. Mr. Michael Evans is the band teacher.

This year we are excited to expand the performing arts to include Strings for grades 2-8. Students can learn and share the art of playing an instrument from the string family. Playing violin, viola, or cello is one of the most direct ways of sharing the greatest music ever composed. Acquisition of instrument is the responsibility of the student’s family. There is an annual fee that is made payable to Mr. Cho. Below is an informational flyer from the instructor, Mr. Cho. Classes will be on a rotating basis on Wednesdays.

Flex Academies is an after school enrichment program for students in preschool through fifth grade. The activities offered can vary from Legos to soccer to cooking to drawing. Parents sign up through the Flex Academies site directly. There is a fall and winter session. Each one is 8 weeks. Classes are held on Tuesdays or Thursdays, depending on the selected classes. Fall registration is 5-16 September and runs from 24 September-19 November. Below is the link for preschool and K-5 registration sites.
The PAPAS Club stands for Pray and Play and Serve. James Armstrong, our youth minister, Amelia Gil-Figueroa, our new Missionary-to-Youth disciple, and Mrs. Dannemiller look forward to starting this group on Wednesday, September 11, 2019!
These weekly gathering times will be used to pray in Adoration during our weekly exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Wednesdays. We will also have some holy fun with games and activities to deepen our faith and grow closer to Christ. We will also work on service projects such as making mats for the homeless by recycling plastic grocery bags.
